After thirty years of teaching, you’d think I’d have had enough??  Well, my students were all high schoolers and now I get the opportunity to work with little ones at Hope Town Primary School.  It is the perfect retirement volunteer job.  They expect me to show up when it’s too blowy or rainy (rarely) to get out of the harbor.  I really am there mostly to help the teachers, no job is beneath me.  At times I’m photocopying, helping with bulletin boards and tidying spaces up.  Other days I’m reading with students or giving tests.  One day a couple weeks ago they needed a sub for the 2nd/3rd grade combined class for the day.  I said I would do it.  How tough could 7 & 8 year olds be after teaching inner city high school??  Let’s just say those adorable kids tore me up and left me exhausted at the end of the day!!  I laughed with Dan When he picked me up in the dinghy that afternoon – just don’t have the energy for that anymore…

The students put on their Christmas program Friday and it really got you in the spirit!
